Act now where someone is at risk

If a child or adult is in immediate danger, or a serious crime is in progress, call 999. For a non-emergency police matter, call 101. Do not wait for an MKGRSTUDIO response, confront an alleged perpetrator or conduct your own investigation.

Our commitment

Welfare, dignity and clear responsibility

We do not tolerate abuse, neglect, exploitation, harassment or unsafe conduct. This policy applies to directors, employees, workers, volunteers, freelancers, tutors, artists, producers, contractors, hirers, partner organisations, visiting professionals and anyone acting on our behalf.

The welfare and best interests of a child are paramount.
Every person has the right to safety, dignity and fair treatment.
The voice, wishes and communication needs of the person affected will be heard.
No member of staff or volunteer should investigate suspected abuse.
Data protection is not a barrier to necessary and proportionate information-sharing for safety.

Recognise and respond

Listen, record and report

Make the situation safe
Call emergency or medical services when needed and take proportionate immediate action.

Listen calmly
Take the person seriously, avoid blame, do not promise secrecy and ask only necessary open questions.

Record promptly
Note the date, time, location, the person’s own words where possible, what was observed and actions taken. Separate fact from opinion.

Report without delay
Contact the Designated Safeguarding Lead or the appropriate statutory service. Do not delay an urgent referral because an internal contact is unavailable.

Safer participation

Professional boundaries on site and online

Use proportionate safer recruitment, references, checks, induction, supervision and lawful DBS checks for relevant roles.
Use authorised organisational accounts and professional communication channels.
Do not use private, disappearing or secret communications with children.
Protect meeting links, access credentials and participant information.
Plan one-to-one creative activity transparently with appropriate consent, supervision and arrival/collection arrangements.
Report breaches of professional boundaries even where no harm is known to have occurred.

Recording and publicity

Consent, privacy and respectful media

MKGRSTUDIO will explain how photography, audio and video are created, used, stored and published. Appropriate consent or another lawful basis must be established before use; where children are involved, parent or carer consent and the child’s age-appropriate agreement should be obtained.

Respect anyone who does not wish to be recorded.
Do not publish a child’s full name together with information identifying their regular location.
Use authorised equipment and secure storage with limited access.
Provide a route to raise concerns or withdraw consent, while explaining where removal may no longer be reasonably possible.
